Question

My baby doesn’t sleep during the day and keeps asking for cuddles or constantly seeks milk. Why is this happening, and I’m worried it might affect the baby’s growth and development. How can I help?

Answer

Firstly, carefully observe the baby’s total sleep time over 24 hours. If the baby doesn’t nap during the day, it’s usually because the night-time and nighttime sleep durations are longer, otherwise, the baby may become overly tired and lack energy for play. Apart from the possibility that excessive daytime activities of the mother during pregnancy have led to a lack of nap habits in the baby, if the deep sleep during the night is also less than 10 hours, that is too little. It is advisable to have a detailed examination of the child. However, generally speaking, a child’s daily sleep time will not be less than 10 hours.
