Question
A newborn baby of 15 days, with an astonishing amount of urine daily, wetting the diaper again soon after changing it. Parents inquire about how to assist and the possible reasons.
Answer
Generally, infants who drink formula milk tend to urinate more frequently than those who breastfeed, but the differences among individual children can be significant. Some infants urinate more frequently with small amounts each time; others do the opposite. If observed over a long period, it can be found that children who frequently change diapers in infancy tend to have more frequent urination as they grow up, while those who have less frequent urination and larger amounts each time in infancy tend to have less frequent urination as they grow up, and may even not need to urinate at night.
