Question

Why has my baby (40 days old) started having sleep disruptions recently? They don’t want to take a nap during the day and easily get startled and restless at night. We have stopped giving them probiotics and children’s supplements, but the situation seems to have not improved. We didn’t pay much attention before, but now we want to know if there’s a problem, and how to help the baby return to a stable sleep?

Answer

Sleep disturbances in infants can be caused by a variety of factors, including normal growth and development, poor sleep habits, overstimulation, and digestive problems. At this stage, the baby is growing very quickly and requires a lot of nutrition. Indigestion may lead to deficiencies in calcium and other nutrients, which can cause the baby to be irritable and have poor sleep, along with symptoms like night sweats and hair loss on the pillow. To improve this situation, it is recommended that you establish good sleep habits, avoid overstimulating the baby, and ensure the baby receives balanced nutrition. If the situation does not improve, it is suggested that you take the baby to see a doctor to rule out any potential health issues.
