Question
Dear doctor, my child has had an uneven facial size issue since birth, and is now almost six months old. He dislikes sleeping on his left side, which causes his right face to be larger. Adjusting his sleeping position is also quite difficult. Some people suggest letting him sleep on the larger side, while others suggest the smaller side, and still others say it’s due to an irregular back of the head causing the face to be skewed, and that he should sleep on the side with a flatter back of the head. Could you please provide some advice?
Answer
Based on your child’s situation, there should be no need to worry excessively. Indeed, a small number of children may experience such conditions, but as babies grow older, these issues usually improve. If the child does not have any other diseases, generally speaking, the face will return to a normal symmetrical state as they grow up. This is my suggestion for the question ‘My child has had an uneven facial size since birth and is now almost six months old.’ I hope this helps you, and wish you health!
