Question

What’s causing my child’s dry cough?

Answer

A six-year-old child has a dry cough without phlegm and no symptoms of a cold. They complain of a slight pain in the chest and some abdominal pain when coughing. This mild cough could be caused by acute or chronic tonsillitis, or acute bronchitis. Due to the intense contraction of muscles, it may also trigger chest or abdominal pain. Rifampicin or azithromycin can be used for treatment, and cough syrup or powerful loquat syrup can be taken to alleviate symptoms.
