Question

My child is 6 years and 8 weeks old, and when he pees, the skin in front of his penis occasionally sticks to the scrotum. Last year, his penis became red and swollen, and we went to the hospital where they said it was a bacterial infection. After taking medication, it got better. The doctor suggested surgery because of the long prepuce. Now I basically clean him every day. I want to know how much can I infer about the prepuce or foreskin? Does my child need surgery?

Answer

The child is only six years old, and the reproductive organs have not yet matured. It is not possible to diagnose a long prepuce. It is recommended to maintain regional hygiene and observe the child’s future development before deciding whether surgery is needed.
