Question

My baby’s eyes have been swelling since July. We went to a local hospital, and they said it was a chalazion. After the out-patient surgery, the swelling returned within a month, and we had to undergo another surgery. Now it’s happening again. What should we do? Can’t it be cured permanently? Will it keep recurring like this?

Answer

I’m sorry to hear that your baby is continuously suffering from chalazion. Recurrent chalazion may be caused by not paying attention to hygiene, frequently rubbing the eyes, lack of sleep, spicy diet, and other factors. Additionally, abnormal development of the eyelid glands may lead to gland duct obstruction, causing recurrence. It is recommended that you wash your hands frequently, avoid rubbing your eyes, eat a light diet, avoid spicy foods, drink more water, and engage in moderate exercise to boost immunity. I hope these suggestions will be helpful to you, and wish your baby a speedy recovery!
