Question

My baby is less than seven months old and recently has developed nasal mucus. While feeding, they make a honking sound and sometimes form nasal crusts. I’ve tried using warm water drops but the effect is not good. What solutions can I try?

Answer

Baby nasal congestion may be caused by a cold or other reasons. You can apply a warm towel to the bridge of the baby’s nose. If mucus forms into lumps, you can drop two drops of milk into the feeding while gently pinching the nose to help dissolve the mucus, then carefully remove it with a cotton swab. If the condition does not improve or is accompanied by other symptoms, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
