Doctor, my child is almost one year old and their fontanel is 5 cm open. It seems to have never closed since birth. The health check-ups have all been normal, and we recently had a brain CT done, which showed no hydrocephalus. We also had the trace elements test, and everything was normal. We’ve been taking AD drops and calcium supplements since birth! I’m particularly worried about what to do about my baby’s open fontanel.

A baby’s fontanel typically closes between one and one and a half years of age. Your baby is only one year old, so the fontanel not yet closing is a normal phenomenon. Moreover, the results of your baby’s trace element test are also normal, showing no abnormalities. As your baby grows older, the fontanel will close on its own, so there is no need for special treatment at this time.
