Question

My three-week-old baby has been running a fever for one night. The fever subsided after taking medication on the third day, but it came back a few hours later. After one round of intravenous fluid therapy, the fever didn’t return. I’m worried about the duration of the fever and what complications it might cause. If the child’s mental and behavioral state is normal, do we still need to conduct a thorough examination? Now there are no abnormalities, but will there be any sequelae in the future?

Answer

Generally, children’s fevers are mainly due to bacterial or viral infections, which are factors of the common cold after catching a cold! I suggest that parents take their child to the hospital for further detailed examination of blood tests and C-reactive protein levels, and use medication actively for treatment. Usually, this will not leave any sequelae.
