Question
Can my child drink this medication when feverish at 38.6 degrees?
Answer
First, provide your child with adequate hydration and use alcohol to wipe the palm, sole of the feet, armpits, and groin areas to help dissipate heat. Fever is often caused by acute upper respiratory tract infection, with about 90% being viral infections. When the body temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, you can give ibuprofen or antipyretics containing paracetamol for fever reduction and symptomatic treatment. If the condition does not improve within 2 to 3 days, it is recommended to undergo routine blood tests and C-reactive protein tests to assist in diagnosis. If diagnosed with a bacterial infection, antibiotics should be added for anti-infection treatment.
