Question
My child went to the hospital last night, took medication at home, but has been running a fever repeatedly since then. Just now, the temperature reached 39.5 degrees, and I also gave them fever-reducing medicine, but the effect was not good. Should I take the child to the hospital for treatment now?
Answer
From the baby’s routine blood test, it is possible that the baby may have a bacterial infection. The percentage of neutrophils and monocytes in white blood cells are both elevated. The current secondary fever may be related to this. When the body temperature is between 37.5-38.2 degrees, physical cooling can be done using warm water to wipe the neck, armpits, groin, and thigh roots. If the body temperature is below 39.8 degrees, you can take oral pediatric fever-reducing medicine or fever-reducing syrup, and it is best to also take cefalosporin antibiotics for inflammation, but must not be allergic.
