Question

Is it normal for a two-month-old baby to feed every six hours at night? I am breastfeeding, and I’m not sure if the baby is full. Before, when I was in the postpartum period, the baby could drink 120 to 140 milliliters in one feeding, and I was also adding formula. Now, with only breast milk, sometimes the baby has bowel movements every three or four days, and the urine output is less than it was a month ago. Is this normal?

Answer

If the baby is feeding less frequently and the amount of stool and urine decreases, and if the baby spends more time in deep sleep and doesn’t cry much, it could be a sign of hypothyroidism. I’m not sure about the results of the thyroid function tests during the two-screening tests. It’s best to have a thyroid function test panel done.
