Question
My baby hasn’t pooped for a day and a night, and this has been going on for over a month. What’s going on? Previous treatment and effects: none; what kind of help do I need: I’m not sure if it’s normal, should I be worried?
Answer
The number of times a normal infant poops daily can vary greatly, with some children having many bowel movements in a day, while others may go every 5-7 days. As long as the stool has a certain amount, is not too hard or runny, and the child is not uncomfortable, it falls within the normal range. If the stool is hard, in small amounts, and difficult to pass, even if there are 2-3 bowel movements in a day, the total amount may be less than one bowel movement on an average day, which is a sign of constipation. It is recommended to adjust your baby’s diet, ensure adequate fluid intake, and increase dietary fiber intake, such as whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. It’s important to train your baby to have regular bowel movements from an early age. Wishing your baby a healthy growth!
