Question

A four-month-old baby is beginning to introduce complementary foods, and now at seven months old, no meat has been provided yet. The question is whether it’s okay to start eating lamb.

Answer

It is currently not recommended to give lamb to the baby. For preventing iron deficiency anemia, it’s necessary to consume iron-rich foods on a regular basis. As the baby gains weight, more food needs to be provided. Porridge, broken noodles, egg yolks, and various vegetable purees, tofu, etc., can be added to the complementary foods. Provide two meals of porridge or broken noodles per day, with one tablespoon each time; one egg yolk per day; vegetable purees and spinach, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, etc., once or twice a day, with one tablespoon each time, gradually increasing to two meals a day with several tablespoons each time; and provide one quarter of a block of tofu per day.
