Question
I’ve noticed that one of my breasts is larger than the other while breastfeeding, and I’ve been feeding from only one side. I haven’t weaned yet, and I’m not sure what to do. I haven’t had any treatment for this before, and I hope a doctor can help me solve this problem.
Answer
You may be experiencing what is known as the “one-sided feeding” issue. Usually, the breast with less milk may become smaller due to the baby suckling from it less often. To address this, it’s recommended that you let your baby start by suckling from the smaller breast, as the baby’s suckling strength is stronger when hungry, which can stimulate the production of more milk in the smaller breast. Additionally, you can promote milk secretion by massaging and increasing the frequency of feeding.
