Question
The 10-month-old baby has been eating very little, and recently has developed symptoms such as runny nose, not eating, dry heaves, and diarrhea. The baby had been given an injection five days ago due to vomiting, and is still experiencing diarrhea and runny nose.
Answer
The symptoms may be caused by a cold, and usually require a doctor’s diagnosis to determine whether the cause is a viral or bacterial infection. A preliminary blood test can be used to determine the type of infection. Currently, symptomatic treatment is recommended, including taking pediatric paracetamol and chlorphenamine granules, montmorillonite powder, and cefpodoxime granules. If necessary, a routine stool test should be conducted. Wishing the baby a healthy growth.
