Question
My child’s adenoids are enlarged and won’t go down. We’ve visited several hospitals and doctors have said there’s no other option but to remove them. The doctors also said that the child would grow out of it naturally, so we didn’t have them removed. However, the child is underweight, lacks resistance, and is prone to catching colds. Whenever they get a cold, their throat gets inflamed. We go to the hospital for intravenous fluids and oral liquids twice a month on average, and we haven’t stopped taking them for a year. We’ve been giving the child the flu vaccine at the health station since last year.
Answer
Based on your description of your baby’s current condition and physical status, chronic adenoid hypertrophy often leads to frequent colds, so I suggest you pay attention to preventing colds and keeping warm, maintain a balanced diet, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, exercise appropriately to enhance immunity, and prevent colds. Regarding the issue of adenoid removal, I recommend consulting with the Otorhinolaryngology department of a regular hospital.
