Question
The 2.5-year-old child fractured the upper part of the left knee. It’s been about a month since the surgery, and it should have healed quite well, right? Can the child start moving around, as the doctor mentioned there were plenty of calluses in the half-month X-ray?
Answer
I’m very glad to help clarify your concerns. Children heal from fractures relatively quickly, so it’s completely fine for the child to start exercising the affected limb and practicing joint flexion and extension one month after surgery. However, there’s no need to rush into walking; a follow-up X-ray is recommended in two months.
