Question

How should I handle a child’s fever?

Answer

Fever is a common symptom in children, often caused by a cold. Since children’s thermoregulatory center is not fully developed, their body temperature is more susceptible to external influences and fluctuations. Generally, it is recommended that if the body temperature does not exceed 38 degrees Celsius, medication is not necessary. Instead, physical cooling methods can be employed, such as using alcohol to wipe the body, or gently wiping the face and forehead with warm water. If the body temperature exceeds 38 degrees Celsius, symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen suspension (such as Ibuprofen) or naproxen (such as Naproxen) can be used to reduce the fever. However, these medications should be used under a doctor’s guidance, as excessive use or improper use may have adverse effects on a child’s health.
