Question

At 7 months old, the baby has been introduced to solid foods for over 4 months, having tried Babymy Rice Cereal, Heinz Gold Fortified, and Yee Wei Noodles. I’m unsure if there are any issues with these cereals and whether they are suitable for the baby. I need to go to work and have stopped breastfeeding. My mother-in-law is taking care of the child and will not prepare her own meals.

Answer

Transitioning from breastfeeding to trying other foods is a matter that requires careful attention. Both introducing it too early or too late can be detrimental to the baby. Therefore, at this stage, mothers must be attentive and not miss out on any opportunities! Generally, it’s ideal to start introducing solids to infants between 4 to 6 months old. Before 4 months, the baby should be solely fed with breast milk or formula milk, without any other food or drinks. Once the baby reaches 4 months old, it’s time to introduce configured foods. Guidance: Generally, rice cereals and noodles are relatively safe; there’s no need to be overly picky. I suggest allowing your child to consume more starches, juices, rice cereals, and egg yolks. When providing solids, make sure they are mashed up and introduced gradually. Wishing Baby good health and vitality!
