Question

The baby accidentally ate the antihypertensive medication “nitrendipine tablets,” and there are no reactions yet. How should it be handled?

Answer

Nitrendipine tablets are rapidly absorbed after oral administration, usually detectable in the blood within 10 minutes and reaching peak levels within 30 minutes. This medication has the effects of dilating coronary arteries and lowering blood pressure, with few side effects and is commonly used to treat angina pectoris in coronary heart disease and to lower blood pressure. If the baby does not show any obvious adverse reactions within 8 hours after ingestion, there is generally no need to be overly concerned.
