Question

My one-year-old baby has been vomiting at the sight of formula milk recently, but not actually throwing up. He immediately drinks formula milk after vomiting. What could be the cause of this, and what checks do I need to do at the hospital?

Answer

There is no need to worry; this could be a reflexive reaction. Based on your description, it is suspected that your child may have dyspepsia. This condition is quite common in children as their gastrointestinal tract is not yet fully developed. It is recommended that you give your child some probiotics to improve intestinal function, such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium, and Bacillus subtilis. You can choose one type to give your child for more than a week to see if there is any improvement. In the meantime, you can use a warm towel to massage your child’s abdomen to aid digestion and absorption.
