Question

Can Qingkailing Injection cause frequent urination?

Answer

Qingkailing Injection is primarily composed of cow gall, water buffalo horn, honeysuckle, Scutellaria baicalensis, and bupleurum, among other ingredients, and has the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, cooling blood and unblocking meridians, and awakening the mind. However, this medication may also trigger various drug allergic reactions, manifesting as urticarial drug rash. In one case, a 10-year-old child developed frequent urination, occurring every half hour, after receiving Qingkailing Injection treatment following a high fever from influenza. Analysis showed that this frequent urination was not related to an increase in urine volume but was caused by the drug’s side effects.
