Question
A 4-and-a-half-year-old child has a thinner right leg than the left, lacks strength, and the heel of the right foot does not touch the ground. The child has undergone three months of rehabilitation training but still cannot fully stand on the right foot when standing, and walking and squatting remain difficult. Inquire about treatment methods for neural stenosis around cerebral palsy.
Answer
According to the CT report, the child has schizencephaly and possibly hypoplasia of the corpus callosum. It is recommended to undergo surgical treatment, but it must be confirmed by the attending physician. Indications for surgery include severe pain-type cerebral palsy with muscle tone of 3 or higher, good voluntary movement function of limbs, no obvious muscle weakness, stable severe pain condition, normal or near-normal intelligence. The optimal age for surgery is between 3 to 6 years old, generally above 6 years old. Wishing the child a speedy recovery.
