Question
How to determine if a child is deficient in calcium?
Answer
- Excessive sweating: Children lacking vitamin D may sweat excessively even at room temperature or not during summer, especially during the latter half of the night when they sleep, with sweating often concentrated on the head.
- Irritability: The child may become emotionally unstable, showing signs of irritability, crying, losing interest in surrounding things, not as lively as before, or exhibiting unusual temper.
- Disrupted deep sleep: The child may have difficulty falling asleep, frequently waking up, having nightmares, or waking up early and crying persistently.
- Delayed teething: Normally, children start teething between 4 to 8 months old. A calcium deficiency may lead to delayed teething.
- Weak immune system: Children with calcium deficiency may be more susceptible to respiratory infections, pneumonia, vomiting, and other diseases.
