Question
What are the obvious symptoms of pediatric epilepsy?
Answer
The early symptoms of epilepsy may include a recurrence of various different hallucinations, illusions, and unconscious movements, such as sucking, chewing, smacking the lips, undressing, and unbuttoning. The characteristic of a minor recurrence is the sudden onset of a brief loss of consciousness, followed by anorexia after the recurrence. During the recurrence, there may be a sudden interruption in speech, cessation of movement, remaining in a fixed posture without falling, and staring blankly. Sometimes, the face may turn pale without muscle spasms. Recurrences typically last 2-10 seconds and do not exceed 30 seconds, with consciousness quickly returning to normal and the ability to focus on regular activities.
