Can children get Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease? There are one or two red spots on my child’s hands and feet, which are itchy and slightly painful. Previous treatment and outcomes: none. What kind of assistance is needed: Can taking medicine help? How long will it take?

Answer

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is an infectious disease common in children, also known as eruptive vesicular stomatitis. Affected children will have concentrated vesicles in the mouth, accompanied by pain, with similar blisters on the palms or soles of the feet. The vesicles are surrounded by inflammatory erythema, with less fluid inside. This disease is more common in children under the age of 6, but not all children will necessarily be infected. It is recommended that you take your child to the hospital for a check-up to obtain an accurate diagnosis and treatment advice.
