Question

How should you handle a 6-month-old baby’s issue of not pooping for three days?

Answer

Defecation is a reflexive action, and babies can be trained to develop a regular bowel movement habit. Generally, infants over three months old can start training. After changing the baby’s diaper in the morning, adults can hold the baby in their arms and let them sit on the potty or a special chair. With continuous timed training for half a month to a month, the baby can develop a habit. Once the habit is established, do not change the time arbitrarily. For older children, in addition to encouraging them to be more active and eat more fiber-rich foods, they should also be encouraged to have regular bowel movements and develop good habits.
