Question

My baby often jumps and cries during naps. What could be the cause, and what treatment methods have been tried with their effectiveness? What kind of help do I need?

Answer

This condition in babies may be due to low calcium levels. In winter, as babies cannot get enough sunlight often, they are more prone to calcium deficiency. Common symptoms of low calcium include being easily startled, waking up frequently, excessive sweating, and shaking the head while sleeping, as well as sparse hair on the pillow area. It is recommended to give your baby oral calcium supplements. If your baby is formula-fed, you can choose formula with higher calcium content. If you are breastfeeding, you can also consider supplementing calcium for yourself.
