Answer

Hello. The child may have allergic cough, which often occurs at night or in the early morning, presenting in episodes without asthma or fever. Chest X-rays and blood tests show no significant abnormalities. Various antibiotics and cough suppressants have been tried with no noticeable effect. Allergic cough is mainly characterized by: generally no high fever; vomiting white frothy sputum; dislike rubbing eyes and nose, love to scratch the scalp; sweat during sleep, restless, dislike curling up to sleep; mainly coughing without asthma. The cough has three main features: a series of coughs before taking a nap in the evening; a series of coughs upon waking up at night; a series of coughs upon waking up in the morning. Some children can cough continuously for up to three months.
