Question

Can my baby receive the pentavalent vaccine locally?

Answer

The pentavalent vaccine already includes the diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus (DPT) vaccine. Therefore, if your baby receives an additional DPT shot at five months in a different location, it would be considered a repeat vaccination. Repeated vaccination may cause adverse reactions or negative effects on the child’s immune system, so it is not recommended to repeat vaccinations unnecessarily. According to the standard vaccination schedule, the pentavalent vaccine should be administered at 2, 3, 4 months of age, and between 15 to 18 months of age. The booster immunization for DPT should be given at 18 to 24 months and at 6 years old.
