Question
“My baby had a convulsion-like movement the day after receiving the DTP vaccine. Upon closer examination, it was found that the baby was experiencing severe pain. Is there a causal relationship? Previous treatment and outcome: No family history, but there was a history of difficult breathing at birth. Desired assistance: I would like to consult whether there is a causal relationship between receiving the DTP vaccine and the baby’s severe pain.”
Answer
“Besides many major diseases such as epilepsy, meningitis, and encephalitis that can trigger convulsions, the most common causes of infantile convulsions are low fever and calcium deficiency. As for whether the DTP vaccine can cause infant convulsions, it’s not certain. At least, there have been no such reports to date.”
