Question

My child is already one year old and is currently drinking formula milk. They usually have some congee and eat light fruits and vegetables, but there are many things I’m not sure if I should give them. Recently, my husband brought home a lot of premium yams from work, and everyone says that eating yams is good. I’m not sure if it’s okay for a one-year-old child to eat yams. I am looking for help: Hello, is it okay for a one-year-old child to eat yams?

Answer

Eating yams is indeed very good for most adults. However, for children, especially those as young as one year old, it’s absolutely not advisable to push them to eat it. It’s especially important to limit the amount given to such young children. While yams are excellent for nourishing the spleen and stomach, they can also be quite rich and difficult for young children to handle. If they are given only small amounts occasionally, it can be beneficial, but absolutely not in excessive quantities or by force.
