Question

Why does my child frequently have a dry cough? Sometimes it even happens while sleeping. Is this normal? Are there any treatment methods?

Answer

A child’s dry cough is often a pathological condition, possibly related to diseases such as acute enteritis, gastritis, pyloric spasm, hypertrophy or stenosis, pneumonia, or meningitis. Symptoms may include nausea, increased abdominal pressure, frequent vomiting, and the vomit may contain milk clumps, stomach contents, or even mixed with green bile. When a child has a dry cough, their expression often appears painful. If you notice your child has a dry cough, you should take them to the hospital for examination and treatment immediately.
