Question

My child frequently has diarrhea, and I don’t know why. They’ve been running a fever, either high or low, and it’s really concerning. Previous treatment and outcomes: We’ve been to the children’s hospital, and they just gave some medicine. What kind of help do I need: Can you help figure out what’s going on, and what should I do?

Answer

Frequent diarrhea in children may be caused by improper diet, overeating, or consuming extremely cold, unclean foods. It is recommended to provide liquid diet, drink plenty of warm water, and temporarily fasting if symptoms are severe. After symptoms subside, you can start eating congee. For vomiting, you can give antacids, and for abdominal pain, you can use 654-2 or atropine. Antibiotics should be taken after a detailed examination at a hospital.
