Question
My 2-year-old baby has a slight fever when sleeping and it goes away after waking up. They often vomit after eating and sometimes just like to throw up. Their throat is a bit red and there’s some inflammation. We’re giving them symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication at home, such as paracetamol sulfate granules for children, but we’re not sure what to do about the vomiting. Do we need to take them to get an injection?
Answer
I believe your baby’s fever and vomiting are likely due to a weakened immune system after catching a cold, with bacteria or viruses entering the body and causing an upper respiratory infection. The clinical manifestations include fever and discomfort or pain in the throat. I suggest giving your baby cefaclor granules and antiviral oral liquid, drinking plenty of water, taking oral probiotics, eating light and easy-to-digest food, avoiding extremely cold, hard, and spicy irritant foods, eating in small portions but more frequently, avoiding overeating or undereating, paying attention to staying warm, and preventing further colds to alleviate the common cold. I hope my explanation is helpful.
