Question

My baby is a girl, about 40 days old. Today, when I was wiping her bottom, I found some stool in the front crease. I gently wiped it with a cotton swab, but it seemed like none of it came off, but the stool was gone. Could I have wiped it into the vagina and caused inflammation? I didn’t wipe too hard and didn’t push it inside much.

Answer

I can understand your concern. In fact, children often get stool on the prepuce when using diapers or similar products during bowel movements. In this case, it’s best not to wipe with anything but to rinse the area with clean water. You don’t need to worry; if this happens again, just rinse the area with clean water. This will help maintain hygiene and make your baby more comfortable. Wishing you and your baby good health and happiness.
