Question
How can I enhance the effectiveness of calcium supplementation in children? My son is six months old and he sweats during sleep at night. He also doesn’t sleep well during the day. So, I started supplementing with calcium. Now, there’s a problem. He sleeps well when he takes calcium during the day, but his sleep time is shorter at night when he doesn’t take it. I’m not sure if calcium needs to be supplemented every day? Should I add it in the morning and at night?
Answer
Hello, generally speaking, babies are in an important period of growth and development, and they need more calcium than adults. Therefore, it is important to ensure that babies receive enough calcium. Breast milk is a natural calcium supplement, with the ratio of calcium to phosphorus being most suitable for baby absorption, so we advocate for breastfeeding.
