Question
My ten-month-old baby only drinks milk and doesn’t eat solid foods. Sometimes, there’s vomiting and nausea. Why is this happening? What were the past treatment methods and their effectiveness? What kind of help am I looking for?
Answer
- A ten-month-old baby should have started introducing solid foods. Since the stomach is lying down, occasional vomiting is normal.
- Solid foods should begin with rice porridge, rice gruel, vegetables, and fruits, gradually increasing to eggs and meats. Typically, one new food is introduced every few days, from puree to small pieces. This also benefits the baby’s teething process.
- It’s normal for a baby to feel nausea and vomit occasionally. After each feeding, avoid letting the baby move or lie down immediately; gently patting the back can help relieve symptoms. This can also reduce instances of vomiting.
