Question
What should I do if my baby’s cold might delay the BCG vaccination?
Answer
Due to fever, the BCG vaccination should be administered at least one month later, with the doctor recommending a minimum of 30 days. It can be a few days later but not earlier. The DTP (diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus) vaccine is given to prevent diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus, with one dose administered at 3, 4, and 5 months of age. There may be some fever and restlessness after vaccination, which usually resolves within 2-3 days. If the fever exceeds 39.5℃ or seizures occur, it is not advisable to administer the vaccine. Redness and swelling may occur at the vaccination site, but they will gradually fade.
