Question

My six-month-old son won’t eat solid food. When I feed him egg yolk porridge, he can’t swallow it. We’ve been introducing solids since around four months, but he’s never taken to them. It’s really frustrating. What are some good methods to get him to eat solid food? He has been exclusively breastfed.

Answer

When considering introducing solid foods to your baby, porridge and congee are the first choices. Once your baby gets used to these types of foods, you can add some softer textures, such as juices, vegetable juices, and fruit and vegetable purees. Egg yolks are also a good option. As your baby adjusts, you can gradually introduce meat and fish-based foods. Throughout this process, always pay attention to your baby’s reactions. If he can’t accept the new food, give it some time. Adapting takes a process and cannot be rushed.
