Question

My 18-month-old baby has developed a scatter tumor in their left eye. Initially, there was no swelling or pain, but it has swelled up again recently. Besides cold compresses and medication, are there any other methods? I’m worried about the potential negative effects of constantly applying cold compresses without surgery. Can the baby eat egg yolks during this period?

Answer

When a baby’s scatter tumor has not yet formed a pus head, cold compresses and medication, such as eye ointment and eye drops, can be used. However, if the scatter tumor recurs, it is recommended to apply gentamicin eye ointment after the baby goes to sleep to prevent infection. When pus heads are found, do not squeeze them yourself to avoid the spread of bacterial infection and severe complications. Additionally, keep your hands clean and avoid rubbing your eyes to prevent bacteria from entering the eyes.
