Question
Fu Zhixin’s main symptoms: allergic purpura, pinpoint hemorrhagic spots on the lower limbs and the backs of both feet. Onset time: July 2006, detailed laboratory examination results: urine routine normal. Previous treatment and effects: from July 2006 to May 2008, treated with both traditional Chinese and Western medicine. With the recent outbreak of influenza, and the threat of H1N1 flu, many parents have inquired whether children with allergic purpura can receive the flu vaccine.
Answer
For immune diseases such as allergic purpura and nephritis syndrome, it is not recommended to receive vaccines during unstable periods. There have been more cases of allergic purpura or exacerbation of symptoms after vaccination (such as rabies, measles, rubella, hepatitis A, influenza, hepatitis B vaccines). Therefore, it is advisable to avoid vaccination when the disease is unstable or has a short control period. Based on my experience, it is generally recommended to consider vaccination after the condition has been stable for one year.
