Symptoms of generalized epileptic seizures include sudden cessation of movement, staring, unresponsiveness to calls, lack of falling, unchanged complexion, and some patients may experience automatisms, which are involuntary, unconscious movements such as licking the lips, sucking on the cheeks, chewing, swallowing, touching, rubbing the face, patting hands, aimless walking, muttering to oneself, etc. After the seizure, they are unable to recall what happened. These seizures typically originate from the medial temporal lobe or the limbic system, but they can also originate from the frontal lobe.
