Question
An 11-year-old boy has been discovered to have an erosive lesion on his left humerus since he was 3 years old. After undergoing a biopsy, he was diagnosed with eosinophilic granuloma. Initially, he received regional injection treatment at Nanjing Children’s Hospital, but the condition spread to his right arm and other areas. Lesions were also found in three cervical vertebrae, and he was later transferred to the hematology department for treatment. Subsequently, lesions were found in other skeletal sites, and to date, there have been 7 lesions. Subsequent treatments were conducted at Hangzhou Children’s Hospital.
Answer
Treatment recommendations include intravenous calcium gluconate injection, oral loratadine tablets, and ketotifen tablets. If conditions permit, the addition of Mepron injection can be considered. It is suggested to continue treatment for about half a month to one month, and also consider low-dose radiation therapy. Additionally, the patient should pay attention to rest and nutritional supplementation to reduce the chance of recurrence.
