Question
What is ABO incompatibility, and can complications be prevented?
Answer
ABO incompatibility can lead to neonatal hemolytic disease, but in most cases, the symptoms are mild, and early detection and treatment can be achieved through regular prenatal checks and antibody titration. In severe cases, monitoring and treatment of neonatal hemolytic disease may be required. Special attention should be paid when the mother is O-type blood and the fetus is A-type or B-type. During pregnancy and after delivery, one should observe the timing of jaundice appearance and diagnose and treat it early for a generally good prognosis.
