Question

What is the normal body temperature for a baby? I measured my baby’s armpit temperature at 38.6 degrees, does this mean the baby has a fever?

Answer

A baby’s body temperature may temporarily rise after eating, crying, or exercising; wearing too many clothes or being in a room that’s too warm can also cause the temperature to be slightly higher. In these cases, as long as the baby appears generally well, is lively, and has no other symptoms or signs, it is usually not considered pathological. However, if there is a suspicion of an abnormal body temperature or other symptoms of illness, medical attention should be sought immediately to avoid misdiagnosis and timely treatment. Parents should closely monitor their baby’s condition and do their best to assist them in receiving appropriate treatment.
