Question

Should a baby take antibiotics for fever?

Answer

If your baby has been running a fever repeatedly, it’s important to find out if there are any other symptoms besides the fever. It would be helpful to consult a doctor, at least to check the throat condition. A blood test can be conducted to help initially determine whether the infection is viral or bacterial. Generally, upper respiratory infections are caused by viral infections, but if the course of the illness is prolonged, bacterial infections often occur as well.
