According to research, the causes of pediatric epilepsy mainly include genetic factors, perinatal brain injury, congenital brain development anomalies, cerebrovascular diseases, and brain damage following high fever seizures. Secondary epilepsy causes may include congenital brain anomalies such as hydrocephalus and arachnoid cysts; perinatal brain injury, primarily due to birth injuries, intracranial hemorrhage, and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy; and intracranial infections such as viral encephalitis. Additionally, cerebrovascular diseases, such as cerebrovascular malformations, can also be a cause of epilepsy.Brain damage following high fever seizures may also lead to the occurrence of epilepsy.
